GLG’s enhanced AI-Moderated Calls, detailed in an August 6, 2026 announcement and flagged by Integrity Research on August 24, replace the two chokepoints that have defined expert-network economics for two decades: scheduling and live moderation. Before, a client wanting expert color had to wait for calendar alignment across time zones and pay for a human moderator’s time on the call. After, according to GLG, the same interview runs autonomously in any of 10 languages, on the expert’s own schedule, with transcripts synthesized and quantitative answers exported straight to Excel.
The competitive subtext matters more than the feature list. AlphaSense’s own buyer’s guide already advertises AI-led interviews across its library of 280,000-plus expert calls with what it claims is a 70% cost saving versus traditional expert networks — a direct shot at the markup GLG and its peers have historically charged for coordinating and running human-moderated sessions. GLG’s move reads less like innovation-for-its-own-sake and more like defensive repricing of its core service before AI-native aggregators strip out the labor cost that justified the premium in the first place.
GLG’s own AI moderator is a bet that automating the call itself is cheaper than losing the call to a competitor’s AI.
What’s unverified here is the part that determines whether this actually works: quality. GLG’s CPO is quoted in the company’s own release saying clients report time-to-insight compressed to “just hours,” but that’s a vendor claim about a vendor product, not an independent benchmark against human-moderated sessions on nuance, follow-up quality, or expert candor — the qualities GLG has spent years selling as its differentiator. No pricing changes were disclosed alongside the launch, so it’s unclear whether clients see any of the cost savings AlphaSense already claims for its own AI-led calls, or whether GLG captures the automation margin itself.
Watch for two things: whether GLG discloses adoption or usage volume for AI-Moderated Calls in future disclosures, and whether pricing for the feature undercuts traditional human-moderated engagements enough to matter to buy-side research budgets. If GLG holds pricing flat while automating the cost base, that’s a margin story, not a client-savings story — and the two are easy to conflate in an announcement.
The AI Moderator is agentic, multi-modal, and compliant – emulating a human researcher that operates within the industry's most trusted environment. It probes for nuance and follows up on experts' answers, while adhering closely to client-set discussion guides and keeping each conversation on track.
